Principal's Message

Dear Students and Parents:

The 2019-2020 school year is going to be a wonderful year at Big Bear Elementary School and we want to welcome you and your child as we look forward to exciting new changes.

At Big Bear Elementary School we provide a standards based educational program for every student while building a sense of positive self-worth essential to academic and social success. Families, children, staff, and community members work together to create an impactful learning environment in which children's ethical, social, and intellectual development are interconnected and integrated into activities across our rigorous curriculum. You will find that our campus is truly a special place full of vibrant and caring students and staff.

Our teachers use research based instructional strategies to guide classroom practice in order to maximize student learning. We regularly assess student achievement and use those assessments to plan classroom instruction and targeted interventions. You can support our efforts by monitoring homework and maintaining close communication with your child's teacher.

We strive to keep communication between families, teachers, and students as an important element in maintaining our caring learning community. Our three parent organizations work together to support our school program. Our Bobcat Booster Club, English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC) and School Site Council (SSC) also work in collaboration with all staff to provide an enriching and dynamic environment for our students. We invite you to visit our website at www.bbes.bearvallevusd.org which will have up-to-date information about what is happening in our school. We welcome you to become active in our shared decision-making process, and to join us in providing the best possible educational setting for your child by volunteering time in the classroom.

Our motto at BBES is "Live, Learn, Strive, Serve" and at Big Bear Elementary School we focus on developing lifelong learners who understand that learning can take place anywhere for the rest of their lives. We welcome any questions you may have regarding our academic program.

Sincerely,

Christina San Nicolas, Principal
